International Conference held in Pune: a report by Baloch Academist
The International Conference on Optimization & Development in Sciences held in Pune 17/12/2009
Baloch Academist: On 17 December 2009, the international conference on "optimization & development in sciences" was jointly organized by the Union of the Iranian Students’ Islamic Association Indian sub-continent and University of Pune, in Namedeo Hall, Arts faculty, University of Pune, Pune, India.
Around 500 participants including PhD scholars as well as academicans attended the seminar. The cheif guests included Mr. Nabizadeh (the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to India), Dr. Karim (a reader, and the ambassador of science & technology in Indian sub-continent), Dr. Vasudha Garde (the Director of International Center of Pune University), Dr. Pandit Vidyasagar (Director of BUCD), Mr. Rezaiee (Cultural ambassador of Iran to Mumbai), and Mr. Imami from the Consulate of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
In the beginning, a massage about the conference was read out on behalf of the Iran’s Science & Technology Minister, Professor Daneshjoo.
Mr. Nabizadeh, the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran then delivered his speech on the issue and praised the scholars for their contributions. He pointed that Iran stands number 12 in mathamatics, 14 in mechanic, 27 in medical, etc., in the world.
Dr. Vasudha Garde, the Director of International Center of Pune University also welcomed the program. She said that it is scientific base that leads a country towards development. Both in ancentit time and in the contemporary time, Iran has contributed a lot to science and education despite the sanctions. Innovation is the need of hour, she said. India like Iran has contributed a lot in the field of science and technology. She supported her view by referring to the sayings of great people like Anstian.
In the second session, Professor Sonavali guided the scholars how to improve their research activities. He gave a 30 minutes presentation on research methodology.
In the third part of the program, technical sessions followed one after another by 60 scholars/students/professors who presented their papers in two halls and in three sessions. The papers presented were on the themes of law, sociology, politics, economics, education, literature, chemistry, mathamatics, environmental sciences, and information technology. Each session was chaird by several Indian professors and at the end of each session questions and views exchanged between the scholars.
In the end of the prgram, Dr. Pandit Vidyasagar Director of BUCD was invited to have his view. He said that unless we do not share and do not criticize we cannot reach the truth. We need healthy and constructive criticism; excellence has no ends. He praized the organization of the conference.
Finally, Dr. Karim presented his views by encouraging scholars and students towards knowledge and education. He emphasized that scholars and students should focus on self development.
Note: This was the first international conference held by the Iranians scholars and students at University of Pune, Pune, India. The conference received around 210 papers. Around 60 papers were accepted for oral presentation, around 80 accepted for poster, and around 70 papers were rejected.
